Wasn't expecting any big news coming out on the week-end. The leagues GMs are probably taking a couple of days off to reset their batteries before the roller coaster ride they've been on continues.

Seems that way.
There are still some good free agents available in Mikhail Grabovski, Damien Brunner, Brad Boyes, etc. It'll be interesting to see where they land. |

I think 2.5 would be fair but I could see him getting 3 |

I'd love to see them ship out Tedenby & Josefson along with Volchenkov and/or Tallinder & Henrique to get some high end picks and cap relief. Get some real offensive threats in here. Love to see Brunner & Grabo, but at least Grabo would do, he's gotta come cheaper than his last deal though that's not necessarily true.
Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Brunner-Lokti/Grabovski-Kovy
Clowe-Grabovski/Loktionov-Zubrus
CBGB
At least sign Grabovski, our centers are a mirage of effectiveness. Ditch JJ & Tedenby & Tallinder at least. Get whatever you can & go with:
Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Clowe-Grabovski-Kovy
Henrique-Loktionov-Zurbrus
CBGB
Then maybe move Volchenkov next season when his contract becomes a little more digestible & have Urbom/Gelinas & Merrill in the lineup.
I know, I know...NHL13 type poop right here.

I'm kind fascinated by some of the signings & moves Lou has made. He acquires Schneider, which is kind of a win now & win next year & thereafter mindset. Then he resigns Elias to a pretty healthy contract, but then I'm surprised that he signed Ryder to Henrique type of money. Now looking at Cap Geek, it looks like you guys have about 3-4 mill left. Thinking out loud, I know Lou has said he will match any offer sheet for Henrique, but if Flames offer sheet him for like 3.2mill, the compensation is only a 2nd rounder & that really straps the Devils. I wouldn't want to give up a 1 & 3rd at a higher offer sheet, but maybe there is a deal here where we can get Henrique, give you some cheaper decent assets & take a contract from you if Boyes & Grabo are a fit . I never have known the Devils to being a cap maxed team. |

We would get rid of tallinder before we let Henrique go for 3.2. The only way to put is in a bind is offering around 5 million. |

Yeah, but I don't believe doing that is healthy for a rebuilding team, would rather cut a deal that really works for both teams. |

Such as? The only hole we really have is a top 6 LW. I don't think NJ is interested in trading Henrique for future help, if at all. |

Someone's gonna get moved at some point. I can't see Lou operating this close to the limit. I expect him to make a move before the season starts, but he may also wait out the market a bit. You can go 10% over or something like that so I'd like to see him at least add Grabovski, then ship out Tallinder+ to a team looking at the cap floor for peanuts & a bag of pucks.
Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Clowe-Grabo-Kovy
Henrique-Lokti-Zurbus
That's not that unrealistic.
He's gonna free a spot for someone at the blueline. Probably next offseason he'll clear another spot for Merrill. I wouldn't mind seeing Merrill make the team, but Urbom has also earned his shot & with Harrold signed I'd rather not shift up a prospect this year just to have them ride the pine like Larsson was doing |

Because Darcy Zajac had an ahl contract before does it mean that he was never even an option to be called up? |

Yes. He would've had to be on a two-way contract to be able to play in the NHL. |
